- Poster image by Bill Hemstock Howe Sound International Outrigger race will be held August this year to accommodate teams travelling to Canada for competition in the IVF World Outrigger sprints – Calgary. If you have an international team that may be interesting in racing, please contact hsracedirector@gmail.com for more information. Howe Sound Iron is a 26km distance race in the beautiful waters of Howe Sound in Gibsons, British Columbia. If your team is travelling from Calgary, please note it is an 12 hour bus trip or 1 hour flight to Vancouver. . Gibsons, is a 1 hour ferry ride from the main city of Vancouver. Canadian teams, please notice Howe Sound Iron will also be the Canadian National Championship race for 2012 !!
