20′ MacKenzie
20′ MACKENZIE
The 20' MacKenzie paddles like a wilderness tripping canoe, yet handles loads like a freighter canoe.
OVERVIEW
The 20′ MacKenzie paddles like a wilderness tripping canoe, yet handles loads like a freighter canoe. Paddlers will delight at the 20′ MacKenzie’s fast speed and responsive handling. This canoe tracks well while the 3″ of rocker allows for quick, responsive turns.
The 20′ MacKenzie will carry 1500 lbs with 8″ of freeboard. Molded plastic bucket seats, adjustable stern footbrace and sliding bow seat make it a very comfortable canoe. Optional 3rd and 4th bench seats can increase capacity as high as six paddlers. It is suited for 3 to 4 adults and camping gear, or 2 adults, a pack of kids and gear. The 20′ MacKenzie’s shallow arch hull provides excellent stability.

REVIEWS
The 20′ Mackenzie has huge capacity, is roomy enough for my family with several children, gear, and more; plenty fast; very stable; and maneuverable. It has enough rocker and fullness to turn well (as a canoe should…none of this “no rocker” bologna). The stability is rock solid for a canoe. (Shallow arch hull) The amount of free-board is impressive (17″ center depth, 24″ symmetrical flared bow and stern), seats are comfortable, and paddling position widths are good. (Sliding bow seat).
My Mackenzie weighs 80 lbs (Kevlar) so I can move and load it by myself…very good for a boat of this size. It is red with black trim, sculpted wood yoke, and a vacuum-bagged-foam core. (First-rate workmanship.) It is nice to have a boat of this caliber, quality, & versatility built on the West Coast (British Columbia to be exact) at a competitive price.
I rate it a 10 out of 10 because the excellent design and quality workmanship have come together to make canoeing fun, safe, and easy for larger families. I am looking forward to canoe camping out of it.
